Durango!

Our annual trip to Durango was a great time as usual.  We have so much fun seeing Kristen and Carter just absolutely adores her.  He always wants to sit by her (and won't let anyone else sit next to him), play with her and even sleep with her.  I asked him if he wanted to sleep with mom and dad or with Kristen - he quickly replied Kristen and didn't miss us at all!  That worked out better though because either Landon is a really noisy sleeper or he didn't sleep well down there.  We had a great time relaxing, skiing, hot tubing and enjoying family while we were there.  Until next year!

We were slightly concerned about the 7 hour car ride because Landon will sometimes scream during a 10 minute car ride - he's just not a big fan of his car seat.  But we discovered if I sat in the back with the boys while they were awake I could just feed him snacks and play with him and he did quite well.
We found Rescue Rangers and Tale Spin at Costco which ended up being great purchases and kept Carter occupied pretty much the whole time!
Dane spent the drive listening to podcasts and drove the whole time while I entertained kids.
The playlands in Alamosa were a great break - Landon enjoyed eating while Carter ran around and played.

Nice to have made it, sit on the couch and enjoy a beer
or play with new toys from Auntie Kristen.
Dane and Landon were beat after that long day of traveling :)
Lots of fun playing in the snow the next day

We were super close to the lift - our place here on the left and the lift right there - awesome!  Dane headed up with Kristen Saturday morning to do lift check and got the very first run of the day.  It snowed the night before so there was great snow on Friday and Saturday.

Mom, Doug and Dad heading out skiing
Landon looking like a marshmellow man getting ready to go out

Carter was all excited about skiing and was gung ho to initially put the skis on, but then after a couple minutes he wanted nothing to do with it.  Maybe next year...

Instead he figured he'd just walk around
and strike a pose
Here we were sitting outside and he was SO SO SO excited to watch the big front loader scoop up snow
Kristen took us all on a snowmobile ride so Carter could go ride in the snowcat
He was super excited about this

So excited he apparently passed out!
My mom and I just traded coats and took turns watching kids so we each got to ski a good amount.  Kristen even took us into the wheel house (I think that's what it was called) to see how the chairs come off the line on the high speed lift and all the mechanics behind it.  Pretty cool to see though I was a little scared about climbing up and down the ladder in my ski boots - kinda sketchy!
All of us including Travis and Watson.  Apparently Carter and I were busy talking...
and then my mom was talking - combined they're a good picture :)
and oh so happy to have made it home - and just in time for the super bowl!
