Durango and our little ski monster!

We made our annual ski trip down to Durango to go visit Kristen at the beginning of February.  The boys both did really well in the car though I'm pretty sure Leanne had more than her fair share of Madagascar and Cars on the ride down.  Whatever keeps them from freaking out and whining though!  Purgatory got some great snow while we were there and we all really enjoyed ourselves.  We took turns watching kids and trading jackets so I think everyone got their fill of skiing.  Carter LOVED skiing this year and would have spent all day out if we'd let him.  A little ski bum in the making - at least he's definitely in the right family for that!  He also was as excited as always to have Kristen and Travis around as well as the rest of the family.  It's tough work for these boys to be so adored and spoiled!

Dane stayed home the first morning and the whole Markle clan got out together which was fun.  Kristen even traded in her snowboard to ski like the rest of us.  And probably make it so she wasn't so bored with us :) 

Me and Carter headed out later that morning for his first run.  He was a little hesitant at first but as soon as we started going he was all smiles and I could hear him going, "woohoo" while we were going down. 

He wasn't phased at all about being high up on the lift

and a couple videos of him going down.  Quite the quad workout for me - 4 months pregnant and holding up a 3 1/2 year old - no biggie :)

We got Landon all bundled up and took him out which lasted about 2 minutes.  He does not like being bundled at all so we didn't even attempt skiing with him.  He was much happier staying indoors pantless. 

Carter kept asking over and over to go back out.  That afternoon he headed out again with Dane.

Later that night while everyone was at dinner Carter started moving all this stuff over to the bench.  I asked him what he was doing and he told me he was setting up the party for when everyone got back.  Quite the host - snacks, drinks and games. 

Our second day of skiing was awesome.  They got about 14" of snow that night and morning.  As soon as Dane woke up he pretty much said bye and we knew we wouldn't be seeing him for a while.  He, Kristen and Travis headed over to the back side of the mountain and enjoyed all the powder.  Later in the day Leanne and I joined them for a bit then we all took Carter out again.  

Leanne was going to take a family picture so I came up behind Dane and Carter but stepped on Dane's ski and pushed it out knocking him over, which made him knock Carter over and took me out too.  Good family moment :)

Carter kept lining all of us up at the top of the hill and making us all "race."  He loved it and thought he was hot stuff when he beat everyone.  Dane and I are mean parents and made him lose a couple times too though - don't want one of those kids that is a sore loser!  He was so cute when we got back and he was showing his friend his skiing pictures.  When he came to the this one he goes, "This is my family.  They're awesome." 

Those little skis are just too adorable.
