Christmas time

What a big week! We had a lot going on this last week with Christmas, but overall we really enjoyed ourselves. We decided to stay up at our house and have people over this year. We had Christmas with my parents on Wednesday night (my dad had to go to work Christmas Eve morning) and then celebrated on Christmas day with Dane's family. While Carter had a lot of fun with presents and his first Christmas, he also got his first cold and was super stuffed up for most of the weekend. We all had a couple of nights without much sleep since he couldn't breathe very well, but everyone's all caught up and feeling fine now. Since he wasn't feeling good on Christmas I was busy worrying about how he was doing and Dane and I didn't take any pictures so I'll have to get some from his sister at some point to add. Carter also had his 6 month check up on the 21st and was doing great. He was 17 lbs. 13 oz. and 26 1/4 inches. He's right in the 50th percentile for his height, weight and head circumference, so he's perfectly average.

Carter's been working on trying to sit and keeps getting a little further up every day. We call these his baby crunches and it's so funny when he does it. He holds his breathe and pushes up as hard as he can. He's also started to stick out his tongue a little bit while he does it.
Opening his very first Christmas present
Oooh - a monkey that giggles and rolls around! He's enjoyed watching it spin around the last few days and likes trying to grab it whenever it gets close enough to him.
Happy to be spending time with PaPa

Carter also got the ok from his doctor to start solid foods. He's been having rice cereal for the last couple months but has now enjoyed bananas, potatoes and apple sauce. For now I'm making the baby food and so far it's been pretty easy and not too time consuming so hopefully I can keep that up. The other day he was having some apple sauce and was starting to blink slower and slower and eventually just passed out in the middle of his meal.

Carter's been starting to really try to crawl and is getting pretty close. He's pushing up on his hands and knees and is doing it no problem now. He's started rocking back and forth and begun to push forward but usually collapses. In the meantime he's taken to getting around using other methods including scooting, pulling, pushing, army crawling and rolling. The other day he was on one side of the living room, saw something across the room that he wanted and just rolled across the room to get to it.
Reaching...
Going to a plank position trying to just push off with the feet...
and back to crawling position, no luck going forward though!
Trying some more crawling the next day - soon enough...

Looks like you had a great Christmas. Carter is getting so big! He will be a toddler before you know it. I still can't believe how big Katie is and that we are about to have another! I love the picture of him falling asleep.
