22 Months

I can’t believe my “little baby” is already 22 months old.  He’s turned into such a little boy already.  He’s starting to talk more and more, though a lot of his words tend to start with a “d” or “b.”  He loves all things sports and constantly wants to go to the basement to play every sport we’ve got down there.  He loves to go ‘side (outside), driving, coloring, books, dot dogs (hot dogs), bootball (football), slides, swings, dogs, water and everything to do with water, giving hugs, chocolate cake, bubbles, balloons, puzzles, playing chase and hide and seek, getting tickled, shoes, saying bye, hitting home runs and running the bases, wrestling, watching Go Diego and responding “No!” to all their questions and being all boy.  He hates to have his hands dirty and is quite the polite little guy saying dank do (thank you) all the time.  I’m pretty sure he wishes he was somehow having an older brother as he loves older boys and wants to play with all of them.  He seems to think he should be able to join in on the basketball game with the middle school kids when they’re playing at the park.  He doesn’t realize he’s feet smaller than them, or seem to care.  He’s a pretty shy guy and gets that from his mama – we’re the types who don’t like to talk when we’re not comfortable/around new people.  He gets his ability for watching anything and being able to master that skill from his dad.  He recently threw his first tantrum in public outside of the Babies R Us when he was done playing in the car they have up front.  He did not want to leave the car but after I threw him under my arm like a sack of potatoes and we headed to the car he realized it was no use.  As I told him the other day, “you may be stubborn, but unfortunately for you, me and your dad are more stubborn.”  Bunch of mules in our family I like to say… For now these fits are few and I pray it continues to be that way – I think he’s learning quickly that we don’t really tolerate tantrums.  I suppose that’s one thing I really don’t like after years of working with young children and Dane just doesn't know what to do when he acts that way.  He is usually a happy go lucky kid and in a great mood as long as he’s gotten his nap!  I look so forward to him becoming a big brother and the relationship he will be able to have.  Just a goofy little guy we have!
