Carter boy

Carter - I can't believe you are already 3 years old!  I think no one is more excited than you to become 3.  You've been talking about your birthday for ages now and are inviting any and everyone to your "dinosaur party."  (you spent quite a while deciding on your theme and at one point said you wanted a dinosaur, cowboy, jet, monster truck and cars party - we limited it to dinosaurs though!)  You are such a smart, funny and inquisitive 3 year old and here are some of things you've been saying/doing recently that I just don't want to forget!

Back-hump whale - this is what you call a humpback whale no matter how many times I correct you.  You also associate them with bumps in the road.  If we ever hit a big bump you talk about how we ran over a big back-hump whale.

You are insanely smart with the iPhone.  You know how to take it, unlock it, flip through the screen until you get to Netflix, select the show you want and then start it.  You can also ignore my calls that may come in when I'm trying to get a hold of your dad and can adjust the volume.  It's crazy to us!

You love to play football, well actually you love to tackle.  You love running around with the ball and having us tackle you and vice versa.  You tell us to go deep, yell spin move and spin around and also get touchdowns with a nice spike at the end.

You say that you're eating so you get big and strong but if you don't want to eat you say you want to stay small.
You are constantly running from Chesni, the monster, and love to hide from her.

4 more minutes - you always want 4 more minutes, not 5, not 2, but 4 - which is funny because really you have no concept of time but apparently 4 more minutes is all you need.

You always say stuff is SUPER AWESOME - if I say something is cool and you really like it you tell me "no, it's super awesome!"

You're quite the cheer leader.  You always tell us "good job guys" and make sure to encourage us if we're doing something.  You were quite supportive when we were moving and gave us lots of thumbs up :)

You have been SO SO SO excited for your birthday the last 6 months.  You ask almost daily if it's your birthday and are always truly disappointed when we tell you no.  You even wake up from naps and the first thing you ask is if it's your birthday now.

You're usually wanting to have Landon around and ask me, "where's brother?" when Landon is taking a nap or gone to bed.  Sometimes in fact you sneak into his room and then start shouting, "mom, Landon's awake!"  Wonder why he's awake with all that yelling???  You are also trying desperately to wrestle with Landon.  He's pretty tolerant of you for now and I have a feeling you may need to watch out in a few short months - he may be coming after you!

You refer to all kids as your friends and always want to know what other kids are doing.  You're so excited when other kids are around but you're still shy and take a while to warm up to people.  You usually need a solid 10 minutes of observation before going up to kids at the park.

You seem to believe that if you say, "oops, sorry" all is forgiven.  Sometimes you'll do things you know you aren't supposed to do and then just say "oops, sorry" like that makes it all better.

You're a little homebody and like staying home with your stuff.

You are constantly cracking us up by the things you say and do.

You're favorite books right now are Everyone Poops (thanks Auntie Kristen), Hot Wheels and Dr. Seuss books.

You love all things fire fighter related and are constantly saving people from emergencies.  The other day you had to come "save" me and when I thanked you, you said, "Not a problem, it's what I do."  You also told me you're not a fire fighter, you're just a kid who saves people.  Awesome :)

You always want to be a "nakie boy" and take your clothes off as often as possible.  We've made a rule that you have to have underwear on to go in the back yard and pants on to go out front.  You seem to be alright with that for now.

You LOVE, LOVE, LOVE your dankie (blankie) and still take it everywhere.  The other day you'd left it outside and stuck your head out the door and said, "daaaaankie, where are you?" Then when I told you where it was you ran over grabbed it and then said, "oh, dankie I was so worried about you!" while giving it a big hug.

You love cars, planes, trucks, trains, boats, helicopters and anything else transportation related.  You love being outside and playing.  You still pass out pretty much every time you're in the car but when you are awake you love pointing out things you see.  You like to sing ABC's and Old MacDonald.  You like counting stuff but generally just go 1, 2, 3, 1, 2, 3 and like to repeat that over and over. You like dinosaurs, wrestling, sports, painting, "working" on stuff, getting tickled and chased, running around and doing forward rolls.  You are such a boy and meathead :)

You're such a sweet boy and I love when you sit and snuggle up to me as we watch some cartoons to wind down at the end of the day.  You always want to help out and cheer us on.  You can be stubborn and bull headed and can have your own agenda at times.  Through the ups and downs though you make our lives so much better, interesting and fun.  And we "wuuuuuvvvvv" you more than words can say Carter boy!

Just a new guy
A messy 1 year old
A rambunctious 2 year old
and now 3 years old!
