We seriously had such a great time in Hawaii. It was a lot of fun spending time with all my family, hanging out at the beach and just getting to spend that much time together as a family without work and daily life. While for the most part it was amazing we definitely had times of sleep deprivation, hunger and severe meltdowns. Luckily we only had one really bad meltdown in public and the kids did great with us pushing them to the max and completely interrupting their normal routine. I think we'd all go back in a second and Carter keeps saying he wants to go back. I've got a million pictures so I'm sure they'll just be a few posts over the next few days as I have to time to get them up. But at least hopefully this first once will satisfy some of you who have been asking already :)
We were still pretty nervous about the flight as we got the airport but Carter was super excited about the plane and insisted on carrying his own suitcase around.
And as we took off - this happened. Only lasted about 30 minutes but it was a nice start
Carter hung out, played with toys and watched movies on the flight. He even took a 2 hour nap. I think the thing that really helped out was Leanne took Carter for about 2 hours and he sat with her. Landon then got the extra seat to sit on and play for awhile and then could lay down for a nap. He had a couple times he wasn't happy and started to fuss a little bit but not much at all. We were relieved and happy to have survived the 7 hour and 38 minute flight.
As soon as we got off the plane the boys felt the humidity and started sweating and didn't stop for the rest of the week. Landon got into his bathing suit as soon as we got to the house and stayed that way as much as possible while he was a hot sweaty mess. Both the boys were happy to be in a wagon and headed to the beach.
Carter was in heaven
He ran around like a mad man with huge grin on his face
Landon wasn't too sure about it. At this point it was about 11 p.m. Colorado time, he hadn't slept a whole lot and he just wasn't sure what was happening.
We saw a seal on the beach though
And Landon was happier to explore in the warmer tide pools
Not too shabby
The next day we headed to a really nice and secluded beach that my mom had heard about
After Landon had gotten some proper sleep and meals he was much more excited about the beach. He loved the sand and rolled all around in it. He also loved going in the water too.
Carter never held still or could take the time to look at me/the camera :)
Striking his beach baby model pose
Loving the water
We also enjoyed some good snorkeling - I think you can spot Kristen and Travis's heads here
more to come later...
