Fall Failures and Fun

Well I was hoping to get some posting done this weekend to get all caught up on here but Carter ended up getting sick on Friday night so I spent my weekend cleaning up vomit and being exhausted - good times :)  Dane of course was at the firehouse so we've all been pretty spent.  But hopefully Carter is getting better and Landon won't get whatever he had!

So onto our good times and not so good times of the fall.  One day we headed up near Deckers to head to Cheesman Lake to let Carter practice some fishing.  We didn't realize beforehand that it's up in the Hayman burn area so there aren't many trees and it's a drinking reservoir so dogs aren't allowed in it.  So our failures for this trip were that there weren't many trees, we had to leave poor Chesni in the car and Dane lost Carter's practice fishing lure.  However, we did find a pine cone worked well for him to practice casting and luckily they were done after about 1/2 an hour so Chesni wasn't tormented too long.

We then found a fun spot near the river.  Chesni could run around, the boys could splash and we had a much better time.

Our pumpkin patch failure happened at Wishing Star Farms.  We had to head down to Black Forest to drop off my parent's dogs and we were then stopping by Dane's parents house.  The farm is about 5 minutes away so we thought it'd be a good place to go.  The weather was a little chilly but not bad - at least not bad until we got there.  The wind picked up and it got pretty cold.  Landon of course didn't sleep on the car ride down so he was tired too.  After about 30 minutes he kept signing all done and obviously wanted to get out of there.  The wind got so bad Carter didn't even want to pick out his pumpkin.  He sat in the car and told Dane to go get it.  I thought he was going to be upset when Dane got back with a pumpkin but instead he just said, "good job Dad," and seemed quite content to have been in the warm car.  While we were out the boys enjoyed looking at the animals and liked being in the barn because they could look at the animals and it was warm.  They also liked the pony ride.  Landon started to loose it on the hay ride and Carter made it a little bit longer after that and went down their long slide and then was done for.

They were both happy to be in the car, warm and with snacks.

The next weekend though Leanne and I took the boys and headed down to Happy Apple Farm to visit the Bankers.  Tommy and his family just got back from Okinawa where they've been for the past 3 years so it was great to see them.  Carter was obsessed with his oldest boy, Sam and they had a great time running around.  Definitely a better pumpkin patch experience.

Sammy requested everyone sit beside each other and take a picture - here's 3 of the 5 kids between our 2 families

Don't worry, it's totally safe for a baby to be running around with a wooden stake...

It was a really fun afternoon and the weather was nice and hot so my boys were happy - they're definitely warm weather babies!
