Well Santa was a little more of a hit this year but still kinda scary. Landon seemed pretty undeterred and unimpressed by him - he'd sit on his lap for a minute, just kinda look at him and then get off and run. Carter didn't refuse to sit on his lap like years past but he had no intention of even talking with him. We first visited Santa at the outlets one day and both boys just sat there and wouldn't even crack a smile.
They were a little more excited when we saw Santa at the firehouse. Though Carter was still very shy and wouldn't say a word.
This was Carter's interaction with Santa - but we're making progress. Maybe next year he'll say hi.
They were excited about their new trains they got from Santa though. I told Carter he got a present since he talked to Santa this year. He quickly reminded me that he did not talk to Santa - so I had to revise my statement and say it was since he sat on his lap this year.
The whole fam at the firehouse
Later that evening Leanne and Dawn came down to visit us. We had pizza, made cookies and watched movies.
Landon was the official taste tester and approved.
With all the sledding we were doing - sometimes on not a whole lot of snow - one of our sleds got a hole in it. Dane and Carter went and picked out a new one and since there wasn't snow outside at the time Dane decided he'd give the boys a test ride indoors. I'm just waiting for our first broken bone around here...
Our tree on Christmas morning. My parents and Leanne all came over and we had a relaxing day and dinner at our house to celebrate.
Carter was so excited
Landon wasn't really too sure what was happening
Present time! Next year I should seriously just buy 2 things for the kids. We didn't get a ton this year (because they already have an excessive amount of toys!) but they were done opening presents after about 2. They get too overwhelmed with all the stuff.
Always helpful when dad has to put something together
My parents got the boys these adorable outfits with these cute red pants. We dressed the boys up in them Christmas night, however, Landon was recently going through a phase where he hated all pants so he was not happy about it. Luckily he's gotten through that so he can now peacefully put on pants again.
Boys with grammy and papa (notice the lack of pants on Landon)
The next day we headed down to the springs to celebrate with Dane's family. His sister and her boyfriend had gotten into town from Chicago late Christmas night. Carter was pretty pumped to get to do Christmas again. We decided we'd try to get a family picture with everyone before we went. Didn't work out so well with the dogs. Ches laid there nicely but Sparky decided to try to burrow herself between us.
Carter was then over it and started playing peek-a-boo and Landon was blowing kisses.
Dane with his family
For New Year's, Dane and I headed up to Steamboat to spend a couple days in the mountains. Tracey, Sean, Courtney, Jamison and Emmery all came along too. It was really nice to spend some time with friends and just relax. I think 2 of the 6 of us actually made it to midnight - we're a rowdy group :) The boys rotated from Leanne, the babysitter next door and my dad all watching them and did well, but were pretty ready for us to get home I think. Of course I took no pictures of adults while we were there really but couldn't resist taking a few pics of sweet little Emmery. She was a darling little snow bunny.
With Tracey and I both being pregnant (she's about 2 1/2 weeks ahead of me - I'm so excited for a friend with a baby so close!!!) we just hung out while everyone else went skiing. We were both still feeling the first trimester and not feeling up to skiing. But we got to spend time watching Emmery so we were happy. We took her out to breakfast, had nap time and then bundled her up to go meet everyone for lunch. She was so bundled when we laid her down she wouldn't even move.
We then bundled her even more and Tracey got some practice with a baby bjorn. Such a nice time and we appreciated it so much.
