At the beginning of January I had a trip scheduled to go out and visit Hannah. She'll be welcoming her own little boy into the world in about another month and she's had lots going on in life lately so I hoped a visit from a friend would be nice. I found a cheap flight out there and was excited to go see her and spend a few relaxing days with her (plus how crazy can you really get with two pregnant girls and a 1 1/2 year old???). Landon was going through a serious mama's boy time and still seemed upset with me for leaving him over New Year's so I didn't know how he'd cope with me leaving him again. So I ended up going with a little travel buddy. It was a bit of a rough time getting out there - our flight was delayed a few hours, we had to go through deicing and Landon didn't get to bed that night until about 2:30 a.m. with him only sleeping on the 2 hour flight there. He and I were both pretty spent. Luckily there was not screaming on the flight (just some crying as he was trying to get comfortable to go to sleep), then some good naps and going to bed early the next day got us back on track. Here's how we coped with our time in the airport though. Moving walkways and going the wrong way = baby treadmill. Landon was sweating when he got off.
Landon enjoyed his time out there as well. He loved Hannah and Cameron and at one point Cameron was walking around with Landon and we determined he could seriously be their child. They both have dark hair and blue eyes so Landon and Carter could both pass as their own! Landon also got his beach time with his fair share of eating sand so he was as happy as could be. Can't keep anything out of this boy's mouth!
Face plant in the sand happened promptly after this picture
Landon was not wanting to hold still for a picture with Hannah and Charlie
Hannah also treated us to a day at the San Diego Zoo. Landon loved looking at the animals - especially the fish, he's obsessed - and riding on the sky ride was a highlight. Pretty views from up top.
Fishies (as Landon says)
We also enjoyed some time at the park
And more eating of sand - another face plant into the sand happened
Pretty sunset
Landon and Charlie just relaxing together before bedtime. Landon seriously LOVED Charlie. It was so great to spend time with Hannah and Cameron (and Charlie of course) and I'm excited to hopefully get back out there soon but to meet little St. Clair this time.
While we were gone Carter and Dane had some good bonding time. Carter's highlight was heading to the Wings Over the Rockies museum to look at planes. He also conned Dane into buying him an aircraft carrier toy that he loves. Over a month later and he still plays with it all the time.
He gets so excited about being able to "fly" the planes
And probably his favorite part - the big gun
