We slowly but surely started to get into the swing of things as August rolled around. Of course I'd always think I was getting things together and then the kids would all wake up one night, we'd get no sleep and then I'd be scattered and take a few days to recover. Such is life around here with all these little ones! We did manage to have a few fun activities though.
I gave Owen his first bath once his umbilical cord fell off and I had 2 very excited helpers. Carter was asking me for days when we could give Owen a bath. Owen was ok with the bath the 1st couple minutes...
then spent the next few minutes like this until he was dressed and eating again.
Dane and Carter headed to the Broncos scrimmage at Mile High. I think Carter was excited to have some alone time with Dane and he was thrilled with the activities that were there. They didn't end up seeing the game because it started pouring rain and the game was delayed about an hour, but Carter still seemed to have a blast. This boy loves to tackle any and everything!
Practicing his catching
and climbing up the rope and going down the slide.
A couple baths in and Owen slowly started to like them more and more.
He even gave me a big smile when we were drying off. He had his first smile at about 4 weeks old. He did it a few times during the day but I wasn't quite convinced that he was smiling and it wasn't gas or something. Then he gave me this big one in response to me talking to him. Makes all the late nights and crying disappear from your mind when this happens (at least for a while).
Owen also started to lose his hair as the baths continued. One night all his hair in the front just washed away and he was left with this awesome receding hairline. The hair in the front is coming back quickly though and I'm probably going to have to give him a haircut soon because he's got all this short hair in the front and long hair on the top and sides. Makes for an awesome reverse mullet sort of look.
Carter just can't get enough of Owen, or Clunk as he has decided to call him. (No idea where that came from and when I asked Carter he just said it was because he's such a cute little Clunk).
We enjoyed the Douglas County fair parade and spent some time with the Seymours and the neighbors so the boys were excited. Owen got plenty of attention from Allyson.
We also stopped by the fair the next day and the boys had lots of fun looking at all the machines and animals.
Petting a pony
Carter loves pushing the stroller
Big smiles for dad
This guy chunked up in no time just like his big brothers.
Cutie pie Landon
Carter was beyond excited when Logan came over and they "camped" in the living room and had a little slumber party. We did s'mores out back in the fire pit and decided sleeping inside seemed like a better idea than out back.
Boys with their pacis and relaxing
Dad snuggles
We enjoyed a nice trip to the zoo with Courtney and Emmery - I am loving the fact that she's now staying home and they live in Thornton so we can get together. And it was super helpful to me to have her there to keep an extra eye on these crazy boys.
Carter seemed to be telling them some sort of story
Emmery wasn't interested :)
Owen relaxing on his first trip to the zoo.
I seem to find all sort of ideas on Pinterest and the water blob idea was definitely one of Carter's favorites and cost me about $3 - I'll take it!
Logan came over and joined in the fun too
It's so great to have such awesome neighbors and the boys ADORE Logan.
