Durango visit - lots of pictures!

We seem to be making an annual trip down to Durango to visit Kristen.  This year we went down at the same time as my parents and we ended up staying in a condo at Purgatory.  Not surprisingly we filled up most of the back of the truck  - amazing how much stuff you need for a 4 day trip with 4 adults and 1 toddler.
We stopped in Salida on the way down and Carter of course wanted to head down to the river.  I'm sure he would have loved to have gone in the river...
We headed over to the park so he could run around and get some energy out before lunch and getting back into the car.
Our saving grace for driving 6.5 hours - the DVD player
Carter ran around exploring the condo when we got there.  He then decided he needed to camp out on the couch in his booster seat with his snack and to enjoy some cartoons.
Out to the slopes
It was snowing a little bit and Carter was not excited about being all bundled up.  We just stayed out for a bit and then he spent the rest of the day playing in the condo.  His favorite thing after being bundled up was to then get stripped down and run around naked and crazy.  It worked out great with my parents being there - we just took turns watching Carter so all of us got to ski. Check out my hat Kristen made me!
Headed in after day #1
Kristen and a mogul had a bit of a run in - you can see how her hat is covered in snow, the rest of her had been like that too...

Day #2 of skiing.  Dane and I went out in the morning after it had snowed about 8 inches the night before.  The snow was great and so was the weather.
Yay!
Dane stayed out and did a few more runs and I ran in to get Carter bundled up and ready to go.  The night before I had asked him if he wanted to go skiing the next day and he gave a very excited "yeah."  Normally he hates being bundled up but he was super excited about getting to ski.
Riding with dad at first
Dane got quite the workout going back up with hill

My skiing boys

and a ride with grammy too!
We then went and got Carter his very own skis.  They just slipped right over his snow boots.

We slid around for a little bit but he wasn't quite sure of it.  He was trying to just walk and didn't like that.  Next year I think he'll be much more excited about it.  He did love riding with people though and he desperately wanted to ride up a lift.

Kristen, our personal guide of the mountain for the weekend

Trudging through the snow trying to get to the lift
Hanging out at the beach
This was the view from the balcony at our condo - we were about 100 yards away from the lift
Saying bye bye to auntie Kristen.  I think Carter's already looking forward to the trip next year!
