Carter Ayden Huffman

My blogging is seriously lagging the last few months. I thought I'd get Halloween and October up by Thanksgiving and now it's December 4th...  One day I'll catch up again!  But for now a little about our Carter boy.

If you ask Carter what his name is he'll tell you "Carter Ayden Huffman."  He seems to like saying his full name right now and prefers that over just Carter.    He's a social little guy and it was interesting to hear how he's doing in preschool at our parent teacher conference a few weeks back.  His teacher said he is the definition of cute and that they all love having him.  She also said he just loves all the other kids and to be social but has taken some time to warm up to all the teachers.  He's also apparently a bit of a class clown and always tries to make the other kids laugh and is well liked by his peers.  He'd rather play than really do too much schoolwork but loves story time.  So basically we've got a little Mr. Popular who's using his cuteness to work over his teachers.  We're in trouble...  But with his personality really starting to emerge he is saying some of the funniest things lately.  Here are some of my favorite conversations:

As I was holding Carter he sneezed right in my face.  "Gross.  Thanks buddy," I said.  To which he replied while wiping my face, "Don't worry mom, I was just washing your face."

While we were driving along I-25 out of the blue while it was silent he declared, "When I grow up I'm going to buy a cannon."  And then he went back to sitting quietly and looking out the window.

After I picked him up from preschool I was asking him about the day as we were getting loaded in the car.  After he talked to me about what they'd done for a couple minutes he said, "Let's just stop talking about this.  Just drive.  Let's get out of here."

While he was jumping around the couch fighting off pretend sharks and dragons, he shouted to Dane and I, "Don't worry folks, I'll handle this!"

Sometimes while I'm driving if I don't have both hands on the wheel he'll shout, "Mom put both hands on the wheel.  One hand is dangerous!"

We ran out of brown sugar the other night while making cookies so I went over the neighbors to get some.  When I came back with it Carter got wide eyed and said, "Mom, you got the sugar?  Oh I'm so proud of you.  What a good job.  Give me a high five."

And lastly he's had concerns about the city we live in.  I asked him one day if we lived in Castle Rock and he told me, "No we can't live on Castle Rock, that would be too dangerous.  You have to be a rock climber to live up there."  (he was thinking of the actual rock apparently).  I then tried to explain to him that yes there was the rock at Rock Park but the city we live in is called Castle Rock.  He then said, "people don't live in cities, pigeons live in cities!"  We've since got this whole concept worked out though.

Good thing he's cute :)

And lastly for your viewing pleasure another original Carter dance video, complete with the underwear only ensemble.  I don't think watching him dance will ever get boring to me.  And I love that he constantly tells us, "hey, you wanna come check out my dance moves."  They are pretty fancy :)

I love all of this! I was laughing out loud at all the things that Carter says. We need to have a playdate sometime and see what our crews do together. I think Carter and Levi would be hilarious together and Katie would just try to boss them all around.
