Rock Park

For the few years we lived in Castle Rock previously we never visited Rock Park.  I figured now that we're living here again and with the boys we should go visit our city's namesake.  So one evening we hiked on up to the rock.  It's a short hike and both the boys liked "rock climbing" at the top.

Since it was so hazy last week I thought the sunset would be really pretty.  Which I think it would have if it hadn't been so cloudy...

Carter wanted to try out the backpack too after seeing Landon in it.  He's a bit squished but seemed to like that.  Even when we pulled his legs and arms out he'd cram them back in.
Landon was just fine with walking instead of riding though.  He's now started to try to run and is getting pretty crazy.
Carter was good with climbing up the rocks,
but wanted a ride back down.
There'd be a nice view of Pike's Peak and the mountain this way but the clouds blocked it all out.

Carter was tired of hiking and prefers Dane's shoulders as his mode of transportation
Landon just calmly sat in the backpack
and was passed out by the time we made it down to the car.  We'll have to go back again when it's not so cloudy but it was a nice, close and easy hike with the kids.  And we already determined we're sure the boys will be going up there lots in their teenage years - you know, to show girls the view :)  Dane said that's totally what he would have done.
